George Anthony Devolder Santos is an American former politician and convicted fraudster who served as the U.S. representative for New York's 3rd congressional district from January to December 2023, when he was expelled from Congress. He was elected in 2022 as a Republican, defeating Democrat Robert Zimmerman in the election for New York's 3rd district. He had previously run for the same seat, unsuccessfully challenging then-incumbent Tom Suozzi. Santos is the first openly LGBTQ Republican elected to Congress as a freshman. Santos appeared on Timcast IRL and The Tucker Carlson Show to discuss several books that caught his interest. On Timcast IRL, he recommended Dan Brown's thriller series, specifically mentioning The Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons, telling another participant that they were missing out on a great series if they enjoyed themes involving angels and demons. In the same discussion, Santos referenced H.G. Wells's classic science fiction novel The Time Machine to illustrate the concept of humanity splitting into distinct groups. Additionally, while speaking on The Tucker Carlson Show, Santos mentioned reading Kingdom of Ash, the final installment of Sarah J. Maas's lengthy fantasy series, noting that he managed to read the thousand-page book in just two days while spending time in solitary confinement.
