Graham George Linehan is an Irish comedy writer and anti-transgender activist. He created or co-created the sitcoms Father Ted, Black Books, The IT Crowd, and Count Arthur Strong, and the sketch comedy show Big Train. He also contributed to other comedy shows, including The Fast Show, The Day Today, and Brass Eye. During the 1990s, his writing partner was Arthur Mathews, with whom he created Father Ted and Big Train. Speaking on Timcast IRL, Linehan recommended Eric Hoffer's book The True Believer, noting he frequently brings it up to explain the psychology of revolutionary movements. During an appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience, he recommended Larry McMurtry's Western novel Lonesome Dove and discussed Michael Ondaatje's book The Skin of a Lion, which he read for its descriptions of industrial working conditions in Toronto. Additionally, on The Jordan B. Peterson Podcast, Linehan mentioned Peter Shaffer's play Black Comedy while discussing a theatrical writing project he was asked to undertake.
