Why people recommend it
The Triple Agent by Joby Warrick is a gripping investigative account detailing how Humam Khalil al-Balawi carried out the devastating Khost bombing against the CIA in Afghanistan. On The Shawn Ryan Show, guest Bob Poras enthusiastically recommended the book as an awesome read that accurately depicts how the events unfolded from an objective, third-party perspective without favoritism. Poras noted that the publication serves as an invaluable resource for understanding the specific indicators and tactical failures surrounding the incident, providing clarity that may never be fully captured in official government reports. Throughout the interview, Poras reiterated that the text paints a remarkably thorough picture of the intelligence breakdowns and the psychological profile of the double agent. Listeners interested in modern military intelligence and counterterrorism efforts were directed to the book for a detailed and unbiased breakdown of one of the agency's most challenging security breaches.
