One of the recommendations I've made is read some of the books that that MAPS maps.org publishes like the secret chief about Leo Zeff who is a stellar guide or I think it's healing journey or the healing journey by Claudio Naranjo from Chile so that you understand what a good guide looks like and then you will at least.
Tim Ferriss · The Tim Ferriss Show · Mar 2019 Listen at 1:23:26 Why people recommend it
The Secret Chief by Myron J. Stolaroff is a revealing non-fiction account detailing the life and work of Leo Zeff, an underground psychedelic therapist and guide. In an episode of The Tim Ferriss Show titled #365: Michael Pollan — Exploring the Frontiers of Psychedelics, released on March 21, 2019, host Tim Ferriss offered specific reading suggestions to his audience. Ferriss advised listeners to explore literature published by organizations like MAPS, explicitly mentioning The Secret Chief by name. He explained to the audience that studying the practices of figures like Leo Zeff, whom he described as a stellar guide, helps individuals comprehend what a truly skilled and responsible psychedelic guide looks like in practice. By directing his listeners toward this biographical work, Ferriss aimed to provide historical context and professional standards for psychedelic exploration during a broader conversation about the renaissance of mind-altering substances in therapeutic settings. His recommendation served as an educational resource for anyone seeking to understand the nuanced safety protocols and profound responsibilities involved in safe, guided psychedelic sessions.
