Dmitry Korkin recommended the work, noting that while it might not feel exceptionally original to native Russian speakers, it remains an immensely powerful book even when read in English translation. In another episode, Dmitri Dolgov shared that the novel stands out as one of his absolute favorite books and has profoundly impacted him throughout his life. Dolgov highlighted its unique international appeal and accessibility, explaining that readers can appreciate the depth of its themes and its brilliant literary craftsmanship at entirely different levels depending on their stage of life.
