The best things said about it
I think that like the fifth Risk by Michael Lewis is probably a good book to revisit if you if you have it and to skim if you haven't read it checked it out yet just for a reminder of the innumerable things that the Federal government does that a like broad-based attack on the civil service is going to.
It was interesting because of course his last book The Fifth risk was really looking at you know what could happen if the government agencies that are tasked with managing catastrophes fell short.
She referenced the Michael Lewis book The Fifth Risk talking about how Trump just gutted career professionals from every element of government.
Michael Lewis did that whole little short book on weather and data and just a Trump administration just gutting that agency at some point it was just super scary.

The Fifth Risk by Michael Lewis is an accessible exploration of the critical, often unseen functions performed by the federal civil service and government agencies. Darrin Lind recommended the book on The Ezra Klein Show as an essential reminder of the innumerable tasks managed by the government, cautioning against broad attacks on the civil service. Bryan Callen strongly endorsed the short read on The Joe Rogan Experience for its insights into bureaucratic complexities, and Nick Bagley similarly recommended it on The Ezra Klein Show as an illuminating account of agency operations. On Pod Save America, Michael Lewis discussed how he discovered specific characters like Arthur A. Allen toward the end of the project, while Jon Lovett referenced the book alongside Lewis's other writings to examine bureaucratic obstacles, presidential transitions, and government negligence. Additionally, Gilbert Cruz revisited the author's insights in an archive episode of The Book Review, highlighting the enduring relevance of Lewis's investigation into federal risk management.
