Tommy Vietor · Pod Save America · Apr 2020 Listen at 0:54 Why people recommend it
The Education of an Idealist by Samantha Power is a memoir by the former United States Ambassador to the United Nations, detailing her journey from immigrant to human rights activist and high-ranking diplomat. On the April 2020 episode of Pod Save America titled How To Persuade Voters That Trump is Mishandling the Coronavirus Pandemic, host Tommy Vietor took a brief moment during the opening remarks to direct attention toward the former ambassador's published work. Vietor strongly encouraged the audience to purchase and read the book if they had not already done so, describing the memoir with the singular word fantastic. Although the mention was brief, it formed part of a routine practice on the podcast where hosts amplify books authored by political figures, policy experts, and progressive voices. By endorsing The Education of an Idealist, Vietor provided listeners with a recommendation for a prominent political memoir focusing on foreign policy, crisis management, and international diplomacy during a tumultuous historical era.
