He would go on to make some pretty horrific claims about his experiences, as Root's book outlines. Quote, bitterly cold, and along with many others facing near starvation, Rockman would later account that he was forced to eat excrement to survive.

The best things said about it
Now, my sources for these episodes include two biographies, one written by Shirley Green in 1979 called Rokman, and another from like this year by Neil Root called Slumlord.
Even Root's book barely spends a couple paragraphs on that stuff.
In his book, Root cites the global home for Jewish genealogy, who note in their write-up on the city, active anti-Semitism was widespread, one reason being that the Poles and Ukrainians each accused the Jews of helping each other, right?
His book cites research by the Jewish Historical Institute into the destruction of records pertaining to Lvov Jews during the war and notes that in the spring of 1949, workers in the Morenau district in Warsaw found Jewish death certificates.
Root notes that Rockman's girlfriend later in life claims he told her many stories about his frenzied efforts to maintain some sort of hygiene when he was interned by the Russians.
