Why people recommend it
Reagan by H. W. Brands is a biographical account of the life and political career of President Ronald Reagan. Megyn Kelly discussed the work on The Megyn Kelly Show, where she urged audiences to run, not walk, to the theater for a biopic produced by her friend Mark Joseph. Meanwhile, Gilbert Cruz on The Book Review featured guest Jeff Shesol to discuss H.W. Brands's biography, noting that the subject remains a tough character for historians and readers to fully wrap their minds around. Additionally, Robert Evans mentioned the book on Behind the Bastards, quoting a news report that cited H. W. Brands’s biographical text to explain how an early assassination attempt temporarily silenced criticisms of Reagan's administration at a critical juncture in his term. Through these podcast appearances, the biography has been highlighted both as a dramatic cinematic project and as a serious historical examination of a complex political figure who shaped modern American history.
