Why people recommend it
Notorious RBG by Irin Carmon and Shana Knizhnik is a biographical scrapbook that celebrates the life, career, and cultural impact of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, growing directly out of the authors' popular Tumblr feed of the same name. The book was discussed on July 18, 2024, during an episode of The Book Review by Greg Cowles, who highlighted its position on the bestseller list as part of a regular literary roundup discussing prominent works and current cultural figures. On the same date, during an episode of Pod Save America, Tommy Vietor referenced a different biographical work while discussing political events, specifically mentioning a book by Jen Psaki that detailed a difficult scene involving President Biden connecting with families over personal loss. Although Cowles focused directly on the Ginsburg biography and its unique scrapbook format originating from online tributes, Vietor used the podcast platform to highlight another political memoir that explored emotional connections within governance. Together, these podcast references illustrate how contemporary biographies and memoirs are utilized in media discussions to examine both the public legacies of prominent legal icons and the personal, behind-the-scenes realities of modern political figures navigating profound grief and public service responsibilities.
