Joe Rogan The Joe Rogan Experience · Sep 2019 Why people recommend it
Minecraft: The Island by Max Brooks is an officially licensed novel set within the blocky, survival-based universe of the immensely popular video game. The book was discussed on The Book Review in July 2024 by Alexandra Alter, who highlighted a story she wrote regarding this new narrative adventure. A few years earlier, in September 2019, Joe Rogan brought up the novel on The Joe Rogan Experience, discussing its high quality and noting with interest that the author Max Brooks is the son of legendary filmmaker Mel Brooks, famous for writing the source material behind World War Z. Across both appearances, the speakers acknowledged the unique transition of a video game property into long-form fiction and praised the literary pedigree of the author chosen to expand the franchise into the realm of novels.
