Why people recommend it
Leave Me Alone is a charming and humorous children's picture book written and illustrated by Vera Brosgol, featuring a determined grandmother seeking solitude. On The Book Review podcast episode titled War Stories, published on July 18, 2024, Maria Russo specifically named this work among her favorite picture books from the reviewed issue. The story follows a grandmother who leaves her crowded home to find a quiet place to knit, only to be continually interrupted by her numerous grandchildren. Brosgol's witty storytelling and expressive illustrations combine to create a playful narrative about the universal need for personal space and quiet moments. Russo's endorsement of the book during the podcast segment highlighted its appeal as a standout title in contemporary children's publishing. By selecting Leave Me Alone alongside other favorites, Russo reinforced the book's status as an engaging, relatable story that resonates just as strongly with the adults reading aloud as it does with the young listeners enjoying the humor and artwork.
