Why people recommend it
Empire of Borders by Todd Miller examines the modern history of immigration enforcement and the collaboration between the United States and international entities. Robert Evans discussed the book on the podcast Behind the Bastards during the June 13, 2026 episode of It Could Happen Here Weekly 236, strongly encouraging listeners to read it alongside Border Patrol Nation while exploring themes of border enforcement and international externalization. Later, during the June 20, 2026 episode It Could Happen Here Weekly 237, Carlos Berrios Polanco also mentioned Empire of Borders on Behind the Bastards. He recommended that everyone read both Empire of Borders and Border Patrol Nation to properly understand the history of immigration enforcement collaboration between the United States and the Dominican Republic.
