Why people recommend it
Beautiful Things by Hunter Biden is a candid memoir detailing the author's personal struggles with severe drug addiction, family dynamics, and the intense public scrutiny surrounding his life. On Pod Save America, Tommy Vietor strongly recommended the text toward the end of the episode, noting that it is exceptionally rare to encounter such an honest account of addiction. Conversely, Megyn Kelly discussed the book extensively on The Megyn Kelly Show, frequently highlighting its excerpts regarding past relationships and rampages following his divorce. Kelly also emphasized the legal ramifications associated with the memoir, pointing out how the prosecution utilized audio excerpts from the audiobook during his criminal trial to underline admissions of illicit drug use around the time of a firearm purchase. Similarly, a host on Timcast IRL quoted from the 2021 memoir regarding specific incidents, such as crashing a vehicle while speeding through Palm Springs during a drug bender, illustrating how the published confessions served as significant focal points across various media and legal commentaries.
