Why people recommend it
A Day in the Life of Marlon Bundo by Jill Twiss and Marlon Bundo is a satirical children's picture book created through John Oliver's television program that quickly became a runaway publishing bestseller. Alexandra Alter discussed the book on The Book Review, highlighting its massive commercial success and noting that the satirical picture book received a tremendous boost from its association with the late-night television host. Alter revisited the title in a separate episode of the same podcast while surveying the previous year's bestselling children's literature. In a different context, Jon Lovett brought up Twiss's book on Pod Save America during a humorous trivia segment that contrasted frequently challenged children's literature with passages from the Bible. The book remains a notable cultural artifact that used playful storytelling and charming illustrations to champion LGBTQ+ themes and inclusivity while playfully subverting political orthodoxies.
